Session
Meaning
A session is a server-side record that lets a website remember a visitor across several requests, usually linked by an identifier stored in a cookie. HTTP alone does not remember who you are between two requests, so features such as login depend on sessions. The server keeps the data, and the browser sends back only the identifier. Because the identifier is valuable, protect it by using HTTPS, regenerating it after login and marking the cookie secure and HttpOnly.
