Who created PHP?

Rasmus Lerdorf created PHP in 1994. The PHP manual says the first version was a set of Common Gateway Interface programs written in C, used to track visits to his online resume. Later, Andi Gutmans and Zeev Suraski of Tel Aviv began a complete rewrite of the parser in 1997, which led to PHP 3 and the engine used afterwards. Today the language is maintained by a large community of contributors who discuss and vote on changes in public.
